A little space to think
What to do when you keep overthinking a decision
If you keep revisiting the same choice, try giving the next round of thinking a specific job. This is a practical exercise, not a promise to stop unwanted thoughts.
Write down the actual decision
Use a sentence such as “Do I ask for a conversation today or tomorrow?” rather than trying to solve the entire relationship or situation at once.
Ask what another round would add
Are you waiting for a fact, someone’s input or time to reflect? Name that need. If you are repeating the same arguments, writing them down may help you see what remains unresolved.
Choose one useful action
You could check a detail, ask someone for perspective, or make a small reversible move. If you need more time, decide when you will return to the question. That is an option, not a failure to finish.
Connect the action to a moment
“When I finish lunch, I’ll send the question” is more specific than “I should do something”. Unstick lets you write a cue like this and copy the plan into your own notes.
If indecision or distress is seriously affecting daily life, consider support from a qualified professional. Unstick is a thinking tool, not treatment.
